Privacy Policy
Draft, pending legal review
This policy has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not final. Each section below is marked as a draft. Wording may change before launch.
Facilities can read and keep eMessages
Draft, pending legal reviewFacilities can read and keep eMessages, in both directions, whoever sends them. That is true with or without us. Please keep this in mind when deciding what to write.
What we collect
Draft, pending legal reviewWe keep:
- your name and email,
- your loved one's name, ID number, state and facility,
- your plan, and
- a count of the messages we answered, so we can run the service and your usage page.
How we use it
Draft, pending legal reviewTo create your account, connect your loved one through eMessage on their prison tablet, write replies to their messages, track the monthly message allowance, and process payments.
How replies are written
Draft, pending legal reviewReplies are written by an automated research and writing service, not by a lawyer or a person on the other end. Your loved one's messages are read by that service so it can write a reply.
Payments
Draft, pending legal reviewCard payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Sharing
Draft, pending legal reviewWe share information only as needed to run the service, such as with our payment provider and the facility's messaging provider, or when the law requires it.
Posting pictures and videos
Draft, pending legal reviewIf you tick the optional permission box in your account, we may post the pictures and videos the service generates on social media. We keep a record of whether you gave permission and when. The box is never ticked for you, it is not needed to use the service, and you can withdraw it at any time on the Plan & billing page.
What may be shared: only the generated pictures and videos themselves. What is never shared: your loved one's messages or our replies, names, ID numbers, facility details, or any other personal details about you or your loved one.
How long we keep it
Draft, pending legal reviewWe keep this information while your account is active. How long we keep it after that has not been decided yet, and this section will say so plainly once it is. If you want your information removed in the meantime, email us.
