Questions families ask
What does it cost?
One monthly price that includes your loved one's stamps. The total is $8.00 a month for the service plus your loved one's stamp package at the facility's real stamp price, fees and tax included. For example, in Arizona 20 stamps cost $8.88, so the total is $16.88 a month. The plan renews automatically every month on the same day until you cancel, and you can cancel any time. Taxes and fees, if any, are shown at checkout. Unused plan stamps reset each month. Need more? After you sign up you can buy extra stamps any time on Plan & billing. Extra stamps never expire and are used after plan stamps.
Which facilities does it work with? Will it work on their tablet?
It works wherever your loved one can send and receive eMessages on their facility tablet. You don't install anything on the tablet. You enter their state, ID number and facility, and we check the details with you. If you aren't sure their facility offers eMessage, email us before you sign up.
How fast do they get answers?
Usually within a few minutes of us receiving their message. Each message gets its own reply. The facility reviews messages before delivery, and that can add time we don't control. After you pay, we connect your loved one. That first connection takes a short while.
What can they ask?
Almost anything that helps them learn or create: how a legal process works, how to start a business, how to outline and write a book, how to design something, or just a picture they'd like to see. Replies are detailed, usually several paragraphs. We can't help with anything illegal or harmful, and we follow facility messaging rules. Pictures come as picture messages and short videos as video messages when they ask for one; both use stamps.
Is this legal advice?
No. We give legal research and plain-English explanations: legal information, not legal advice. We are not a law firm, and nothing we send creates an attorney-client relationship or is protected by attorney-client privilege. For advice about their own case, they should speak to a licensed attorney or a legal aid group.
Who writes the replies?
Replies are written by an automated research and writing service that does live research, not by a lawyer or a person on the other end. It is built to be careful, to give thorough answers and to say plainly what it can't help with. You can read how we handle your information in our privacy policy.
Is it private?
Please know that facilities can read and keep eMessages, in both directions, whoever sends them. That is true with or without us.
What if I enter the wrong person or ID?
Please check the name, ID number and facility before you pay. Each ID belongs to one person, and our Terms say we aren't responsible for a purchase made for the wrong person. If you spot a mistake before you pay, change it and you're done. If you've already paid, email us right away and we'll help sort it out.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Log in, go to Plan & billing and choose Manage billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then stops and is not charged again. We don't charge to cancel.
How does my loved one start?
After you pay, they get a welcome message from Reform Assistant on their tablet. They reply to it, and every message after that gets its own answer.
